Mondstille returns - “Metamorphosis” planned for 2027

Dear Mondstille fans,

after a very long hiatus, we are finally back, full of energy and determination.

We have resumed work on our third album, “Metamorphosis”, which originally began in 2014. We are currently in the midst of pre-production, and everything is progressing very well. The album is scheduled for release in 2027.

At present, the band has once again been reduced to its two founding members, David and Markus. We will therefore be working with a selection of guest musicians for the recording of “Metamorphosis”.

We are especially pleased to announce that our friend Kerim “Krimh” Lechner, known among other things for his work with Decapitated and Septicflesh, will once again be joining us on drums. As he also recorded the drums for “Am Ende …”, this brings things full circle for us in a very special way.

The violin and cello parts will also be performed by guest musicians.

Once again, this album will be filled with a great deal of emotion, passion and heart. Thematically, “Metamorphosis” explores the transformation from a spiritual being into a being of light: an individual who has become lost within themselves and in the darkness, trying to find their way back to their true self in order to finally experience life – the light – once again.

Although the music world is becoming increasingly digital, we would once again like to release “Metamorphosis” as a high-quality physical edition and include a small special bonus for those who purchase it.

Personal statement

This is a personal statement

As we started Mondstille, we had no idea which way we should go as a band. We just wanted to create something unique, personal and intimate.

At this time, some people really let me down, I struggled with life, some severe things were going on, beloved people died and those years almost crushed me. I needed an outlet – something to express my feelings so they would not hurt so badly.

This band was the perfect way to do so. Mondstille became something like a therapist to me. All the lyrics are very personal, most of them expressing actual thoughts of mine. Music has saved my life and my mind.

As we finished “Seelenwund”, I had to take some time off and reflect. Major events changed my life. I became a better, more self-confident person and started enjoying life.

So I came to the point where we had to decide about the future of this project and I realised that everything had been said – except a few final words: my renewal.

Therefore we will record one last album called “Metamorphosis”. Addressing that change from darkness to light, it will be a very special piece of art, especially to us as a band, as we have changed almost every aspect of how we create an album.

Seelenwund downloaded almost 500 times

Our album “Seelenwund” was downloaded on Rockbox almost 500 times in about 14 days. To mark this, we reduced the CD price to €10. If you enjoy our music, please support us by purchasing an original copy. Thank you – and we are still not mad.

First illegal download version discovered

We discovered the first unofficial download version of “Seelenwund”. It was a high-quality version created with devotion, and it was fine to use it to check out our songs. We nevertheless asked listeners who enjoyed the music to support the band by purchasing the CD, because the goal was simply to compensate for the money invested in the album.

Correction to the Seelenwund back cover

Tracks 6, 7 and 8 were printed in the wrong order on the back of the “Seelenwund” digipak. The correct order is: 6. Flammend; 7. Sehnsucht versus Leben; 8. Ich, der Pan. The booklet, CD and digital library entries are correct.

After the Seelenwund release show

Almost one week after the release, the special “Am Ende …” package and shirt sizes M and XL were sold out. The Vienna release show with Alcest and Les Discrets was nearly sold out and featured intense, emotional performances. Photos were added to the live gallery.

Seelenwund release date

“Seelenwund” was announced for release on 6 February 2012. Orders were handled directly by email. New shirts and a limited package with “Seelenwund”, a shirt and a numbered, signed “Am Ende …” slipcase edition were prepared.

The masters arrived

The finished masters for “Seelenwund” arrived. The band prepared a special gift for the first 50 orders and announced that February would be the month of the release.

New website and Seelenwund teaser

A redesigned website and the first teaser for “Seelenwund” went online.

In Autumnal Fog sampler

The song “Mir träumt’ …” appeared on the “In Autumnal Fog” sampler. Thanks were given to Schwarze News and Skeksis.

Mondstille shirts available

Mondstille shirts became available and additional information was published in the gallery. Tickets for the October concert were still available.

Am Ende … sold out

The debut album “Am Ende …” sold out. A possible re-release was considered, but the necessary funds were not available at the time. The guestbook was repaired.

Work on the second album

Only a few CDs remained after the label stopped fulfilling its duties and cut off contact. Work continued on the second album, with recording initially planned for spring 2009. A new drummer joined the band.

First copies of Am Ende … arrived

The first 50 copies of “Am Ende …” arrived and could be ordered directly from the band for €11 plus shipping. The website layout was updated for the finished album.

Thank you after the concert

The band thanked the audience for the strong support and thanked Dornenreich, Devon Graves, Bernd and Krimh for making the evening memorable.

Víndsvól leaves Mondstille

Víndsvól left the band because her studies no longer left enough time for constructive band work. Mondstille wished her all the best. Krimh was announced on cajón for the concert on 22 May 2008, where new material would also be played.

Am Ende … delivery before the concert

The delivery window for “Am Ende …” was very close to the 22 May 2008 concert. The band hoped to have the CD available at the show.

Krimh announced as special concert guest

Krimh, who had recorded the debut album, was announced as a special percussion guest for the acoustic concert on 22 May 2008 with Dornenreich and Devon Graves.

Mondstille joins Myspace

After long consideration, Mondstille joined the Myspace community and invited listeners to connect with the band.

Debut album sent toward pressing

The first album was prepared for pressing. Stefan Fasan was thanked for saving the quality of the material. A concert with Dornenreich and Devon Graves at Vienna's Viper Room was also announced.

Metal songs remastered

After major quality problems with the final masters, the cooperation with the previous studio was ended. Stefan Fasan was commissioned to master the metal songs again.

Am Ende … completed

Recordings were completed for the approximately 65-minute debut album “Am Ende …”. The album combines seven heavier songs with seven instrumental acoustic pieces: Ich bin der Tod; In der Ferne; Tränen; In Mondes Stille; Dem Tod zum Gruße; Und wenn der Regen fällt; Mir träumt’ …; Flucht; Frei …; Mystikum; Minneleid; Vom Wind und der Leidenschaft; Am Ende …; Ausklang.

Recording process finished

The recording process for the debut album was completed. Only mastering remained before release. A concert at Escape Metalcorner on 6 December was announced.

Autumn and winter 2007 shows

The flute could not appear on 28 September, so additional unreleased material was planned. The full ensemble was scheduled to perform the regular acoustic set on 6 December.

Replugged and Antimatter shows

An acoustic set at Replugged in Vienna on 28 September 2007 and a support show for Antimatter at Escape Metalcorner on 6 December were announced.

Krimh records the drums

Krimh from Thorns of Ivy took over the drums for the album. The debut release was announced through White Bird Records.

Split with drummer P.

The band separated from drummer P. and wished him all the best. Recording was delayed slightly, a studio replacement was arranged and the Dunkelheit Festival appearance was cancelled.

Budapest concert

The Budapest concert was completed successfully despite a very small audience. The band continued recording the remaining album tracks and added another concert date.

Acoustic tracks re-recorded

Serious problems during mastering forced the acoustic songs to be recorded again. Two preliminary versions were nevertheless made available. A Budapest show on 5 May 2007 was also announced.

First acoustic downloads

Two acoustic songs from the upcoming album were prepared for download. Dorian cancelled the free 7 April show for health reasons and Kältetod was announced as replacement.

Recording update and Skyforger concerts

The acoustic recording sessions were progressing well. The Skyforger show moved to Escape Metalcorner, while a free acoustic concert was scheduled for the preceding evening.

Skyforger at Monastery Club

A show with Skyforger was announced for 8 April 2007 at Monastery Club in Vienna, without acoustic songs. Studio work and additional concerts continued.

First website era

The band thanked everyone involved in a memorable evening with Dornenreich and Floodland. Work began on the official website and additional material for the first album.
